Animal-assisted therapy is a therapeutic intervention that incorporates animals, such as horses, dogs, cats, pigs, and birds, into the treatment plan. It is used to enhance and complement the benefits of traditional therapy. I work closely with the Alliance for Therapy Dogs. I am happy to work with clients to incorporate animal therapy into their treatment.
Millie has been a certified therapy dog for The Alliance for Therapy Dogs for 10 years. I have been a tester and trainer for this organization for 15 years. In our spare time we visit hospices, children’s hospitals and nursing homes to bring smiles to the residents. If a client wishes to incorporate animal assisted therapy in their treatment, I am more than happy to explore those options.
Millie will often sit in on a talk therapy session allowing the client to feel more relaxed and allowing the process to flow more freely. She has a natural ability to help you feel at ease. There are a variety of animal assisted therapy treatment options available and I am happy to discuss all and how they might benefit your healing.
